Diane Palley has created artwork on glass for a variety of architecutral projects. Beginning with a papercut, the image can be transferred to the more permanent medium of glass by silkscreening and etching. Diane Palley also combines silkscreened and etched glass with hand-made ceramics to create lighting.
Diane Palley created two glass panels that were installed at the new Goodson Chapel at Duke Divinity School in October 2005. Each 5' x 7' panel has three silkscreened colors on the reverse side of the glass, with an etched border on the front. Working with faculty at the Duke Divinity School, Diane created images to interpret Psalm 42 and Psalm 43.The main image of Psalm 42 is a deer beside a flowing stream, refering to the first line of the Psalm "My soul thirsts for God, for the living God". Psalm 43 is interpreted by the hills ascending to the the Holy Altar of God, represented by the lyre of the Psalmist.
Read about the panels in an article by Ellen Davis in the magazine, "In Trust" .
